mzl.jwjtwfomI am a sucker for both mail and calendar apps.  Since I got my first smartphone it’s been a struggle to find apps that accomplish everything I want, especially on the mail side.

I’m looking for an app that can handle multiple accounts, color coding of those accounts (preferably colors I can customize), integration into both Exchange/Office 365 and Gmail/Google Apps, assignable signatures, and a usable interface.

Most do a great job of handing some of these needs, but I’ve not found one close enough to be my “favorite.”

Until now.

Acompli is a great mail/calendar app that is for both iOS and Android devices.  It works well in both phone and tablets and meets most of my needs in a mail app.

Because I use a variety of email types including Exchange/Office 365 and Gmail, it was necessary to easily work with all systems.  One of the challenges for many email apps is replaying to Office 365 meeting requests.  Acompli handles these flawlessly and allows custom signatures for different email accounts.  Another feature I use alot is scheduling to handle an email with a simple swipe to the right.  Deleting and archiving are just as easy with a swipe to the left.

The file system is awesome.  I can easily access email attachments simply by going to Files, even seeing who sent them, without digging through tons of emails.  I can also access my Dropbox files and attach them to emails without having to open the separate Dropbox application.

The calendar is OK and functional and the user can control which and how many calendars to display.  Agenda and Day View can also be toggled to preference.

The only thing I do not like about the app is the inability use custom colors for both email and calendars.  Since the default view is “All Inboxes” it can sometimes be tough to tell which account an email is referencing.  I hope it will be made available in a future release.

I’ve installed Acompli on all my devices including my Samsung Note 3, HTC One M8 (Android), Samsung Note 10.1 tablet, and my iPhone 6.

I could ramble on about more of the features and how to use Acompli, but it will be easier just to watch the video below.   If you have some experience with Acompli, or another favorite universal email application, send them to me @BeBizzy on Twitter.
