Shortly after the internet became popular, parody sites and imposter email accounts became popular right along with it.
Twitter is no different. Celebrities, politicians, and businesses have been targeted by folks who obviously have free time on their hands to pose as someone else, usually with no ill-intent. Some of the targets actually love the attention and parodies, like William Shatner (who did ask for his “name” account and was granted by an imposter – who then grabbed WilliamShatner2).
