Have you ever lost your contact list?  Have you ever had a database problem and lost your Wordpress or Blogger content?  Do you fear having something happen to your Picassa or Flickr, or even Facebook photos?

How much is it worth to you to have that information securely backed up?

Well, if you said anywhere from FREE to about $60, I have a service for you.

It’s called Backupify, and it will do everything you need to keep your data safe.

Accounts can be created for:

    • Basic – FREE – Up to 2gb of storage.  One account per service (see below).  No beta program access.
    • Premium – $39.95 – 10gb of storage.  Five accounts per service.  Monthly .zip archives and access to beta.
    • Business – $59.95 annually – 25gb storage.  Unlimited accounts per service.  Weekly .zip archives and beta.

What are the services mentioned above that can be backed up?  Right now they include:

    • Flickr
    • Twitter
    • Delicious
    • Zoho
    • Google Docs
    • Photobucket

The BETA services as they stand right now include:

    • WordPress (I host mine and it worked perfectly)
    • Basecamp
    • Gmail
    • Facebook
    • Friendfeed
    • Blogger
    • Hotmail
    • Picasa
    • Google Contacts
    • Google Calendar

The account took about two minutes to set up and to add my first service, Twitter.  Each service asks you to authenticate to the third party so that it can pull down the necessary data.  Unfortunately the data is currently NOT encrypted, but according to their Feedback Forum it’s high on the list along with Google Voice, Evernote and a quick restore function.

I’ve personally lost months of blog posts when my host had a catastrophic database failure.  It was tough to see my blog being hit day after day from people looking for articles that no longer existed.  I don’t know what I would do if all my Picasa or Flickr photos disappeared.  Not to mention all my email stored at Gmail and some important data at Google Docs.

I foresee my Backupify account growing to a business account quickly as I back up more and more data to the system, especially if they include encryption, Google Voice and Evernote.  Take a look at the service, sign up for a free account and see how easy it is to keep your data safe.
