Someone had to take the lead, and Mashable has deemed June 30th as National Social Media Day.

Finally a holiday I can get behind!

While it doesn’t look like our US government, which has used Twitter, Facebook and other platforms to engage its constituants has caught on, British Columbia in our neighbor to the north has.

So give a big virtual hug to all of your social media friends, customers and followers.
