The latest online music service launched recently, and I was lucky enough to get an invite today.
Rdio is a streaming service that works both to your desktop and mobile devices. Currently there is support for iPhones, Blackberry and coming soon, Android.
The latest brainchild of Kazaa and Skype founders, Niklas Zennstrom and Janus Friis, Rdio lets users search for artists and play entire albums or catalogs, pick favorite songs, sync a song to your mobile, or share the song to Twitter or Facebook for others to enjoy.
Downloads are available for some of the music for around $1 each. But the best part is the format is straight .mp3…. no DRM!
I poked around the service for an hour or so and found only a few artists, old and new, that I couldn’t find. There’s a ton of new release material, including music release just a week ago, and also a huge catalog of older music.
I’m going to give Rdio a try. The desktop-only subscription is $4.99 per month, with a desktop and mobile version at $9.99. I’ll be upgrading if I like the service when I get my Android phone and they have an app.
For more information of Rdio, visit their website, check out the review on EW.com, or read the NY Times article.
I do have a few invites left, so if you would like one, leave a comment below or mention it on Twitter (@BeBizzy).
Stay Bizzy!
